My wife and I both love food and wine. We have a small collection, almost exclusively reds: California Cabs and zins, some Bordeaux and Rhone Wines as well as Tuscans.
We've begun to develop a taste for Italian wines after a trip to Tuscany in late 2005, with a sepcial fondness for Brunello di Montalcino.
We're buying from PLCB, Zachy's in Scarsdale, NY, and the Wine Club (see link below).
As my collection grew, I had difficulty in keeping track of what was ready to drink. Just recently, I catalogued everything using Vinote tags and a great program called the Uncorked Cellar. You buy an inexpensive USB barcode reader, plug it into your laptop and its great. Scanning bottles in takes seconds and allows you to access tasting notes, expected life, links to winery, etc. Worth the time upfront and once you're only doing new purchases, its easy.
Here are some neat things I've found on the Net related to wine and food. Check out foodtv.com for great recipes!
